Belmont, Ma. is a suburb of Boston and was originally founded on March 18, 1859 by citizens of surrounding towns that used pieces of their land to create the newly established Belmont. The bordering towns of Watertown (to the south), Waltham (to the west) and West Cambridge (now Arlington, to the north and east). Belmont is served by the Belmont roughly translates to 'pretty mountain,' but really, this place only has an elevation of 44 ft above sea level.
